The Challenge years are where the years of memory work and grammar analysis come to life! In these levels, students move into the Dialectic and Rhetoric stages, transitioning from learning facts to debating ideas and taking ownership of their own education.
Through Challenge A and Challenge B, students transition from being led by a parent to becoming self-directed learners. The themes of these years are "Attention Leads to Ownership" and "Ownership Builds Discipline" as students learn to astutely observe the world around them. Subjects include:
Logic & Math
Research & Science
Literature & Composition
Latin
History: Cartography, American History & Mock Trial
Students 14 years and older discover the joys of rich conversations in this thought-provoking program. With themes each year including "Discipline is the Cornerstone of Freedom," "All Choices Bring Consequences" and "Understanding Consequences Defines Leadership" students create, consider, and converse. This is classical, christian education at its finest. Subjects include:
Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, & Geometry
Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, & Physics
American, British, & Ancient Literature, Poetry & Shakespeare
Latin including Caesar & Cicero Translations
History: American Government, Western Culture, Free Market Economics, & World History
Reasoning: Philosophy, Music Theory, Theology, & Socratic Dialogue
Unlike traditional middle and high school programs, Classical Conversations Challenge levels are seminar-based.
Student-Led: The tutor facilitates, but the students lead the discussion.
Integrated Subjects: We look at how math influenced history and how history shaped literature.
Small Communities: Our Challenge class sizes are purposeful, ensuring that every student is seen, heard, and has the opportunity to grow.
"Watching my student go from memorizing facts in Foundations to arguing a case in Mock Trial during Challenge B has been one of the most rewarding parts of our homeschool journey."
