The Foundations program establishes a partnership between parents, children, and tutors. Meeting weekly for twenty-four weeks, parents participate in community to practice teaching classically at home. Students are establishing a large vocabulary from many different academic subjects, this is the "Grammar" stage of learning.
Ages 5–12 | Meeting Weekly from 9:15am-1:00pm on Wednesdays
In the Foundations program we give students the "pegs" to hang all future information. By mastering the fundamental facts of history, science, language, and math, they are prepared for the details of higher learning in the later years.
Each week, our community gathers to explore seven key subject areas:
Timeline: A chronological walk through world history from Creation to the modern age.
History: Memorable sentences that bring historical events and figures to life.
Geography: Mapping the world and identifying continents, countries, and landmarks.
Science: Exploring the wonder of God’s creation, touching on each branch of science.
Latin: Building a foundation for vocabulary and logical thinking.
English: Mastering the parts of speech and the mechanics of our language.
Math: Skip-counting and essential formulas that make higher math accessible.
Every Community Day includes:
Hands-on Science: From dissections to building bridges, we explore the "why" through experiments. Every week together includes a hands on project or experiment.
Fine Arts: Students study the basics of drawing, music theory, and great artists and composers to develop an understanding and appreciation while learning to imitate "The Greats!"
Presentations: This is an opportunity for students to practice preparation, confidence, and poise as they present as well as learning to be an attentive listener, a skill that serves them for a lifetime.
At Classical Conversations, we believe you are your child's best teacher. On Community Day, parents are active participants in the classroom, learning the memory work and observing the tutors so that you can easily review and expand on the material at home throughout the rest of the week.
"My kids look forward to Foundations all week. They think they're just playing and singing, but I see the deep roots of knowledge they are growing."
We would love for you to visit our campus and see how our families learn together.
